Criteria & Participation Guidelines

Honor a Veteran with a Public Tribute.
Before submitting your sponsorship, please review the criteria outlined below to ensure eligibility and understanding of city-specific tribute rules.  The following guidelines have been established for the Vermilion Parish Rotary Hometown Heroes Banner Program 2025-2026 Campaign.

🔹 Who Can Be Honored?

• Any Veteran (Includes Active Duty) of the U.S. Armed Forces with honorable service.

• Deceased Veterans, Living Veterans, or MIA/POW are all eligible.

• Occasionally special request will be considered for honoring other non-military individuals.  Request should be submitted to the Rotary Club of Abbeville HTH Committee at rcabbeville.org@gmail.com​ 

🔹 Banner Display Timeline

• Banners will be displayed for 3 years, approximately 3 months each year starting by Memorial Day.

• After 3 years, the banner is returned as a keepsake or optionally re-enrolled if the program continues.

🔹 Banner Placement

• Installation occurs in designated display areas determined by the city.

• Location is random and not customizable. Email notice will be sent once banners are installed.

🔹 City Affiliation Rules

We aim to honor Veterans in the communities they represent.

Please consider the following:

• Banners must be affiliated with the active campaign city at the time of enrollment.

• A Veteran must have a connection (residence, birth, or service roots) to the city under which the campaign is being held.

• If your Veteran is from a surrounding community (e.g., Erath, Maurice, Kaplan, Henry), and no active campaign exists there, you may enroll them in the nearest participating city (e.g., Abbeville).

• Should your community launch its own campaign in the future, a banner may be relocated (with approval and coordination) to reflect that Veteran’s hometown.

• $300 per banner (+Online processing/credit card fees)

• Custom design

• Full Color Double-Sided High Quality Printing

• Hanging Hardware

• Installation

• Banner Maintenance & Storage

• 3-year/3mo Annual Display

• Sponsor may be an individual, family, civic organization or business.

• Banner includes a Sponsor Name at the bottom.

🔹 Photo & Submission Guidelines

• Submit a high-resolution photo of the Veteran in uniform if possible.  We will work to enhance and colorize low quality images.

• If your image is too small or low-quality, we’ll contact you for a better version.

🔹 Tax Information

• Rotary will provide a receipt for your records at checkout.

• Please consult your tax professional for deductibility eligibility.
